Railway Budget Disappointing For AP

bansalAs expected, the Railway budget introduced by Pavan Kumar Bansal in parliament on Tuesday was once again disappointing for Andhra Pradesh.

Several experts, who had participated in the discussions on railway budgets in various television channels, pointed out that there were hardly any new railway lines and projects announced in the budget and even those which were proposed cannot be implemented in the near future due to lack of allocation of funds.

“They are just on paper and unless there is money, they cannot be implemented,” an expert said.

While the State government has hardly evinced any interest in making new proposals, the Railway minister completely ignored the same.

“There is no mention of the second phase of the MMTS in Hyderabad. Similarly, there is no reference to development of Tirupati and Secunderabad as world-class railway stations, a promise made in the previous year's budget. The long-pending and popular request for inclusion of Visakhapatnam division in the South Central Railway has not been addressed. And no effort was made to complete the projects which were already being executed,” the experts said.
