Namitha (Tamil born as Namitha Vankawala on May 10, 1980 in Surat, Gujarat, India) is an Indian actress, who has appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam & English films.

Namitha was born on May 10, 1980 in Surat, Gujarat, India in a Punjabi family. She is the only daughter in this family, which consists of her father, a businessman while her mother is a homemaker. She has a degree in English Literature. Ironically, she recently confessed that she was not allowed to represent India in the Miss World Contest 2000 because she wasn't good at speaking english and that Priyanka Chopra was chosen over her. On 26 October 2010 , there was an attempt made at kidnapping her by a fan at Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu.
