Vimala Raman Biography

Vimala Raman is an Telugu cinema actress, model and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. She was born and brought up in Sydney. She has appeared in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films.

In 1991, she joined her current guru, Smt. Jayalukshmi Kandiah O.A.M and the Natanalaya Dance and Music Academy, based in Sydney, Australia, where she further specialised in Bharthanatyam. In the past 18 years, Vimala has been performing in all of Natanalaya’s annual programs, also taking major roles in all dance dramas.

Vimala graduated in Bharthanatyam in the year 2000. Ever since her arangetram, apart from performing with her dance school, other highlighted performances of Vimala’s, naming a few include: The Opening Ceremony of the Sydney Olympics; Chinnmaya Mission, Sai Baba musical program; Refugee Week; Deepavali festival, the Temple functions and many more.

Her first movie was Poi, a Tamil film directed by Kailasam Balachander. Her first Malayalam movie was Time with Suresh Gopi. She paired with Ajmal Ameer in Pranayakalam in 2007. In the same year, she also appeared with Mammooty in Nasrani and with Dileep in Romeoo. She appeared in College Kumaran with Mohanlal and in Calcutta News with Dileep in 2008.

Vimala Raman made her debut in Telugu cinema with Evaraina Epudaina in 2009 starring Varun Sandesh. The movie brought her nice identity and helped her get offers in pipeline. Later in 2010 she again did a Telugu movie Gaayam-2, which was utterly flop but brought good marks for Vimala Raman for her acting skills. Now the lady has more than a couple of movies in her kitty.
